Collection: Water Tribute Urns

Our biodegradable urns are designed for sea, lake, and river ceremonies, crafted to float briefly, then return naturally to the earth. Each piece allows families to honor a loved one with calm, beauty, and environmental care.

How They Work

The urn floats for 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a full load, then begins to sink and dissolve. The biodegradable ashes bag inside dissolves in one to two minutes, and the urn itself is gone within a week in water. Our guide to biodegradable urns for water burial explains what you will actually see during the ceremony, and how long the urn takes to dissolve covers what happens after it disappears.

Handmade in West Palm Beach, Florida, from paper and natural fibers. No plastic, no metal, no wire.

Before the Ceremony

If the ceremony is at sea, the EPA rules are simpler than most families expect: 3 nautical miles from land, materials that decompose, and one report filed within 30 days. If you are flying to the location, read flying with ashes first, because the urn should not travel in your luggage.

For the moment itself, our ceremony words and readings are the ones families come back to most.

Every kit includes a Certificate of Biodegradability. Free shipping in the United States.

About Our Water Tribute Collection

Water has long been a symbol of renewal and connection. Our Biodegradable Water Tribute Urns are designed for families who wish to say goodbye in nature’s embrace—whether at sea, by a peaceful lake, or along a quiet riverbank.
Each urn is handmade from sustainable, biodegradable materials that dissolve gently after release, leaving no trace behind. Families often accompany the ceremony with natural flower petals or soft music as part of a healing ritual.
For ocean ceremonies within the U.S., remember to follow the EPA’s Burial at Sea guidelines—at least three nautical miles from shore—and file the 30-day report afterward. You can download our EPA Worksheet for Families for peace of mind.
If your ceremony takes place during a cruise, visit our Cruise Memorial Guide to coordinate with Guest Services and ensure a calm, respectful moment at sea.
